Idea 1 Above is one of the first ideas we had for the 1000 Floor Lift Interface which was a basic idea of a keypad which you used to type your floor number in and then another screen would show a list of what floors the lift will be visiting.
Idea 2 This another idea which again was quite simple and worked by using the up and down arrows to choose your floor number. This may not be the best idea because you will have to hold the button down for a long time to get to your floor number and even then you might go past it by accident/
Idea 3 Another simple idea we had was a touch screen with the floor numbers on which you could scroll along to find the right floor. This would mean that you could either scroll along a number at a time or skip to the four hundreds for example. This design also has the problem of that if you go too far you will miss your number and will have to scroll back wasting time.
Best Idea The best idea that we came up with was instead of using square keypads and screens using 4 round screens with keypads around the side. This mans that the user can select the floor lift they want. Each circle is a different number so you will be typing out for example 0123 this would get you to floor 123. This design though may waste time with users trying to get the right number in.
Development of Idea Using our best idea of the round keypad we then developed the idea into one big round keypad which you use to type your floor number. We also then added the waiting list which is an element of one of the first ideas we came up with. 0 9 1 565 736 701 650 478 300 8 2 3 7 4 6 5
Final Interface Above is our final interface for the 100 Floor Lift which is shown in the step by step processes.
Example of Queuing System To the left is an example of the queuing system that would be on a separate screen to the interface and organize the floors the lift would go in ascending or descending order.
