What are Homophones? Homophones are words that sound the same as other words. Sometimes we get confused when we spell them or write them down. Learning about homophones can help us to select the correct word to use.
Look at the writing. Witch sentence is correct? • The beautiful lady combed her hare. • The hair was combed buy the beautiful lady. • The girls we’re playing football. • The football was being kicked by the buoys.
That’s right, none were correct! The sentences contained the following homophones: boys – buoys hare – hair by – buy were – we’re Not forgetting "which”
Activity 1 Group activity – split into two groups. RULES • One set of cards to be given to each group (and shared out). • Students to take turns to read and spell the word out aloud, as well as tell the other group the meaning. • The other group will read and spell the matching word aloud, as well as tell the other group the meaning.
