VCSQI • Projects:PCI initiative-General-guiding principals • Build on the success of VCSQI to measure quality metrics in Cardiovascular Medicine across the Commonwealth of Virginia. • Incorporate Cardiovascular Metrics into the VCSQI quarterly meetings • Foster cooperation between medical and surgical disciplines in the arena of health care quality reporting.
VCSQI • Projects:PCI initiative-General-guiding principals • Create an unbiased, quality-driven infrastructure to review Percutaneous Coronary Interventions in Virginia using Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence (ACE) as an independent reviewer. • Create a trusted mechanism to review PCI cases to allow participating hospitals/health systems to be made aware of possible quality issues within their respective cath labs.
VCSQI • Projects:PCI initiative-General guiding principals • VCSQI should not be responsible for implementation of corrective action • VCSQI should not be held liable for lack of corrective action by participating hospitals.
VCSQI • Projects:PCI initiative-General guiding principals • Within the overall framework of merging NCDR and VCSQI databases, correlate two specific variables (self reported % stenosis and independent reviewer % stenosis).
VCSQI • Projects • PCI initiative • General guiding principals • Possible Statewide implications-(CH) • SMFP Cardiac Cath Subcommittee
VCSQI • Projects • Armus: merging of STS and NCDR data • This is an ambitious project to integrate NCDR and STS data bases in recognition of the changing landscape of Cardiovascular care and the Heart Team approach. • We hope to eventually look at quality and cost across a wide spectrum of cardiac diseases.
VCSQI • Projects • Armus: merging of STS and NCDR data • We await the budget and will define initial goals as we then hope expand our goals. • The VCACC is entering an agreement with ARMUS and VCSQI to represent the cardiology community as we proceed NCDR and STS queries. • We hope to bring interesting information to next years meeting.
VCSQI • This is a very exciting opportunity for the Cardiac Care Team and we feel is the right time to proceed with this initiative!!! • ?????
