  2. Change is in the wind • S&T Campus Wireless Upgrade • S&T VOIP Phone System Replacement • S&T Network Access Control • UMIT Microsoft Lync replaces OCS • UMIT Office 365 replaces Outlook Live • UMIT Data Center Consolidation

S&T Campus Wireless Upgrade • Dell branded Aruba 802.11N 600Mb/s 2.5 and 5Ghz wireless solution selected • Deployed to 25 buildings both on and off campus to date • Will be proceeding with deployment on or before spring break • Current status and FAQ at: http://it.mst.edu/services/wireless/aruba-n/

  4. S&T VOIP Phone System • Current Cisco VOIP system at end of life • New Cisco replacement not cost effective • Evaluated • UMC using CenturyLink hosted Broadsoft • Fidelity Communications hosted Broadsoft • Locally hosted Asterisk • What features do you want to see in UC?

  5. S&T Network Access Control • NAC, what is it? • Easy wireless onboarding • Network access gatekeeper • Policy enforcer • Selected Impulse Point SafeConnect • Deployment plan • Audit mode • Protect wireless network • Upgrade and protect wired network

Microsoft Lync replaces OCS • What is OCS? • MS first stab at UC • IM w/presence and video conferencing • Lync is OCS on steroids. • Think of free Webexusing IP based audio. • Outside federation to Office 365 coming • Public federation possible • SIP connectivity may integrate with local VOIP • UMIT upgrading OCS to MS Lync on 4/1

  7. Office 365 replaces Outlook Live • Outlook Live transition to Office 365 over the summer • Office 365 has more features • Exchange • Sharepoint • Lync • Office • 25G of SkyDrive

  8. UMIT Data Center Consolidation • Part of the UMIT reorganization strategic initiative • Engaged World Wide Tech to assist us with right sizing the UMIT Data Center environment • Statement of work is being finalized • Basic process is assessment, analysis, recommendations, action plan.
