  2. Preamble Specify the different types of contributions and involvement of a partner in the activities of Dariah In order to : This is a heuristic categorization, IT IS NOT a bureaucratic one

  3. Type of involvement • There is no hierarchy between the offers • A partner may be involved in several offers For each category : • Dariah actions • Partner actions (requirements and/or achievements)

DARIAH Actions DARIAH References partner’s offer in a catalogue Attributes the Dariah label Questions : Who is in charge of building and giving access to the DARIAH catalogue (partnership with VCC1 ?) What are the selection criteria for referencing ? Who is in charge of deciding the attribution of the label?

  6. OFFER of ACCESS A partner proposes that his productions, such as databases, web sites, etc. be referenced and made accessible to other Dariah partners. The aim is simply to increase visibility, since the partner’s productions are already accessible at the national level. For example, this is the policy of CLARIN.

  7. OFFER of ACCESS Requirements and/or achievements within the year of the proposal

  8. OFFER of EXPERTISE A partner proposes his expertise to the other partners. This may cover advice, audit, or design. A priori, the partner is involved in a working group. For example: partners who are involved in producing guidelines: LPL laboratory (French laboratory) for helping partners to design a generic submission site based on the OAIS model the CCSD (French service) for helping partners to design an open archive repository

OFFER of EXPERTISE Requirements and/or achievements within the year of the proposal Remarks : In order to be recognized, the expertise must respect Dariah transversal criteria, especially with regard to programming and formats (open source programming and use of formats which are standard and interoperable)

  10. OFFER of CONTENT HOSTING A partner proposes to enable his platforms/his repositories (in a broad sense, they can be physical or digital repositories) to host data from other partners. A priori, the partner is not involved in a working group. For example: Cléo’s platforms (French Open Access Review)

  11. OFFER of CONTENT HOSTING Requirements and/or achievements within the year of the proposal Remarks : The platform architecture/database must be validated by the VCC1

  12. OFFER of INTEROPERABILITY A partner proposes to give access to his data through an interoperable interface (API). A priori, the partner is involved in a working group. For example: TGE Adonis (French VLI) , with Isidore, will collaborate with Dutch partners who work on Narcis, in order to link up the data of their respective repositories ATILF (French laboratory) will give access to data from the TLFi, in particular thanks to XML extractions (which can be reused by partners)

  13. OFFER of INTEROPERABILITY Requirements and/or achievements within the year of the proposal

  14. OFFER of SOFTWARE and HOSTED SERVICES A partner proposes software to other partners, or proposes hosted services. A priori, the partner is not involved in a working group. For example: TGE Adonis (French VLI) proposes software to partners who are not required to pay for licences; it also proposes hosted services (conversion of file formats, OCRization)

  15. OFFER of SOFTWARE and HOSTED SERVICES Requirements and/or achievements within the year of the proposal

  16. OFFER of DISSEMINATION The partner offers tools, services, and platforms for enhancing better data provision, thus fostering better dissemination and better reuse. Interfaces, visualisation, ergonomic aspects, etc. are of prime importance. This offer targets scientists, but also more widely the other users A priori, the partner is not involved in a working group. For example: Cléo’s platforms (French Open AccessReview).

  18. In a nutshell The aim of this proposal is : to improve the visibility of DARIAH services to provide new users with a better understanding of DARIAH’s services Some decisions need to be taken: Labelling Catalogue Working groups
