Twenty-Minute Tech Tips A presentation about Diigo and how it can increase your productivity! Beth Given 15th November 2008
What is Diigo? • Diigo is a social bookmarking website • It is a way to collect, organize, and annotate your personal bookmarks online as well as share them with others • Instead of relying on the saved favorites or bookmarks option on your web browser, Diigo quickly and easily interfaces with your browser to make bookmarking and adding notes to sites easy and quick • Best of all, you can access the very same bookmarks from any computer with Internet access, because all the bookmarks are saved online!
How do you use Diigo? • Sign up for a free account at www.diigo.com • You may then set up your profile, import already existing bookmarks from your web browser, and begin tagging or organizing your bookmarks into lists! • Explore all your options – you can highlight pages, add comments, and more!
Why use Diigo? • Diigo helps you… • keep track of useful sites by categorizing them in lists or with tagging • remember why you bookmarked sites by adding comments or highlighting key passages • access your bookmarks more easily – not just from your personal computer but from any computer or device with Internet access • find other sites with similar topics and people with similar interests
For more information check out: • A good resource to start with is Diigo’s demo video, available on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RvAkTuL02A • Another excellent YouTube video to watch is “Social Bookmarking in Plain English,” which discusses Diigo and other social bookmarking sites: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x66lV7GOcNU&feature=related • Of course, the best way to learn how to use Diigo is to jump in and start using it, and see how it can be useful for you!
