  2. Speaker Projects/Upcoming Events Last Week Spiritual Moment Last week Gary Crumley read us a very nice Bible passage. Don’t forget that the first object of Kiwanis is spirituality. April - Teacher Appreciation Month Honor a teacher from a local school as outstanding teacher of the year. Distribute apples to teachers in a local school in thanks for their hard work School principle to be guest speaker on Thursday when we honor the teacher of the year. Mother’s Day Rose Sale All orders must be in by Apr. 28. Roses will be distributed to members on May 5. The price is $15/dozen. Thank Max Booke and John Bates for putting this project together for us. Club BoD meeting at Fleet Landing Penman Road Clean-up Last week Cathy Cherry spoke to us about the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She is its Executive Director. It is the world’s largest volunteer health organization. The organization funds research, patient services, professional education, and government advocacy. An estimated 712,000 Americans have blood cancers. They are dedicated to curing leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, as well as assisting those who are already afflicted. You can learn more at www.LLS.org . They organize many fund raising events all year, maybe you could lend a hand. -Butch Shadwell Division Council Meeting Meeting scheduled for May 20. This weekend the Fletcher Key Club is participating in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life at Jarboe Park in Neptune Beach. Stop buy Saturday afternoon or Sunday and contribute to the cause.
