Organization Giving the Award and their Selection Process • Given by the Association of Library Service to Children (ALSC), a division of the ALA • From 1960-1980 given every 5 years • From 1980 – 2001 given every 3 years • From 2001 – current given every 2 years • Committee is formed to choose recepients • Made up of 5 members from ALA/ALSC • 3 are elected and president of ALSC appoints chair and 1 more member • Serve term of 2 years • Winners are announced at ALA Midwinter Conference and receive their medal at the annual ALA conference in June
