To get legal aid in Denmark you must: • fulfil certain financial requirements • have a reasonable cause to conduct litigation. Legal aid in Denmark
If you have a reasonable cause but don’t meet the general requirements to get legal aid, there is still a chance that you can be granted free legal aid if • your case is of principle or • in the interest of the public or • the case is of significance to the your social or occupational situation Legal aid in Denmark
You can't get legal aid if your case is covered by a legal expenses insurance. Legal aid in Denmark
Legal aid will as a general rule not be granted if the case can be brought before an administrative appeal board. Legal aid in Denmark
In 2014 the financial requirements are: • The ceiling for singles is 299.000 kr (40.000 euro) • The ceiling for married couples or couples living in matrimonial cohabitation is: 380.000 kr. (51.000 euro) Legal aid in Denmark
The ceiling will be increased with an amount of 52.000 kr. (7000 euro) for • each child • under the age of 18 • who either lives with the applicant or who is predominantly being provided for by the said applicant. Legal aid in Denmark
If you are granted legal aid • the court will appoint a lawyer to run your case • the State will pay for the lawyer's salary (the lawyer's salary is set by the court) • the State will cover the expenses of the lawsuit (even if you loose) Legal aid in Denmark

One of them is Copenhagen Legal Aid. • Through the voluntary work of over 120 lawyers and law students, the legal aid is able to • provide free legal assistance • to any individual regardless of their place of residence, • provided that their income is below a certain level. Legal aid in Denmark
