Program Description The LTM program focuses on building Institute wide staff capability to use and embed new technologies in teaching and learning. This will result in more flexibility and responsiveness to the needs of customers and students and enhance student engagement and personalised learning opportunities.
Program Description & Rationale The TAFE Workforce Development Guarantee, a capability development initiative of the TAFE 21st Century document clearly identifies “using technology to do business” as one of five key capability areas to be developed for TAFE in the 21st Century.
Program Description & Rationale This program also aligns with the Sydney Institute Business Plan 2008 identifying “embedding new technologies and personalised approaches in teaching and learning activities” as a College priority under the Products and Services key area.
Program Objectives • Better utilise existing technologies to enhance teaching & learning practice • Build institute staff capability to use these new technologies • Be more responsive and flexible in the delivery of services to customers and clients • Enhance student engagement and personalised learning opportunities • Create an institute wide network of Learning Technology Mentors (LTMs)
ICT Technologies • Wireless and mobile technologies • Adobe Connect, an online synchronous communication platform • Learning management systems (Janison and Moodle) • Web 2.0 technologies such as wikis and blogs • Resource development kits (laptop, iPOD, digital camera, software: Adobe captivate, Photoshop, Premier Pro, Audition, iTunes) • Smartboards • eBeams, • video conferencing

What is required of you as a LTM • EOI • Attend one week training (16-20 June) • 5 hours/week for 10 weeks (July 21- Sept 26) • Mentor 20 teachers in your college/cluster • Teachers mentored will have to embed technologies • Report on progress using provided forms/templates • Participate in a LTM network/community of practice
