Gerda Weissmann • About 5.7 million Jews • Gerda Weissmann was a survivor • Born in Bielsko, Poland on May, 8, 1924 • Only Fifteen • Her and her mother was sent to a camp • Separated into different groups • Never saw her mother again • Later wrote a book • All But My Life, by Gerda Weissmann Klein This is her book Her older Her younger
Zelda Polofsky • Another survivor was Zelda Polofsky • She was born in 1932 • Nazis occupied the village in 1941 • Lived in hiding for fours years • Only 27 of 550 Jews survived in the village • Many Jews had health cards This is a health card of one of the many prisoners
More Information • Many families got their kids on Kindertransports • Often only one member of a large family survives • Jews had to wear a Star of David They wore this on their clothes so they could be identified This is a kindertransport
