1. Once we reached a level of comfort with one another, we set out on a shopping spree, what woman doesn’t love to shop! Let me first say that we had much more fun than they did. We love shopping under any circumstance! The ladies have great taste in fashion, I must say. We laughed and had a memorable day. After we found the best attire the mall had to offer, we set out for a makeover. I don’t think we actually realized how life altering this day would actually be. We may have initially thought that we would help change a life to see the beauty within themselves, yet they managed to inspire, motivate and uplift us to know that we can make it through anything as long as we remain determined; determined to live and determined to succeed. After the makeover they were even more ravishing. Getting “dolled up”, as some call it, would put a smile on any woman’s face. They smiled and smile, I saw so much beauty in their faces as I watched them smile and maximize the moment. Girl time! We talked and fixed hair. It was as if we’d known them all our lives; they were just that sociable and loving. We then prepared them for the photo shoot, which would provide them with memorabilia to last a lifetime. The beauty these ladies possess had to be captured on camera. There’s nothing more enlightening than seeing yourself at your best. Our prayer was that these ladies would always look at these pictures and continue to thrive in life, knowing that they are beautiful and somebody! We wanted these gorgeous super model photos to lift their heads higher than they have ever been. Oh did we have fun with the various poses! We laughed, lost balance, and felt silly from some of the poses, but they put on their super model faces and the camera loved them! After a fun filled day, we culminated the day with dinner. What an incredible day it was. Meeting new people is a joy; helping people is a delight, but making friends is life changing. I must say that at the end of it all, we did all that we set out to do and got back so much more in return. My prayers are with those women that they would continue to keep their heads up and let no one ever take away the beauty, intelligence and life from within. Woman to Woman MakeoverSexy After 30 Houston Chapter had the rare privilege of meeting five incredibly loving women. The mission of Sexy After 30 is to inspire, motivate and uplift men and women over the age of 30 who have been through or are going through adversity. The ladies we had the pleasure of knowing were women who had gone through some of the toughest times, and are still striving to overcome those adversities. They were homeless; they endured various forms of abuse, which led to low self esteem and the lack of self worth. They did what so many of us do in similar situations; they turned to drugs to numb the pain of life. Our organization set out to sponsor five women who were at the lowest point of their lives. Our goal was to show them just how beautiful they truly are. We believe when you look beautiful you feel beautiful. We also believe in a support system, which is what we set out to be. After meeting these phenomenal women, we sat down to talk with them and to get to know them before anything. These women were witty, genuine, kind, considerate, warm hearted, loving and beautiful inside and out. Once we developed a rapport with them and shared with them all that we had planned for them, they were excited and open to allow us into their lives.
