  1. ATLAS+CMS discussion of “Computers in the search for the Higgs Boson”for JCSS Ian Fisk (FNAL) + Norman McCubbin (RAL) 25th October 2013

  2. Where have we got to…??? • Well, not as far advanced as we hoped for… I suspect… • We have: • Outline, revised since July meeting, and attached to indico page; (Missing names will appear ~immediately!) • SVN repository set up. (Ian’s talk next) • cms-atlas-jcss mailing list. (PLEASE SUBSCRIBE, if you haven’t done so.) • Some “beginnings” of text… (I know of something for Ch.2, at least, and perhaps more…??) • Recent books (eg Brun+Carminati2), articles (eg Rousseau), talks, stuff for overview/oversight committees…, which should be a rich source of inspiration, etc. Can we collect these (or links to them) somewhere convenient?? ATLAS+CMS:JCSS 25 Oct 2013

  3. Where have we got to…??? • We need: • A major push now, with the aim of having a reasonably complete, even if very rough, draft by end of calendar 2013, i.e. by Xmas. • We suggest: • Regular (~weekly?) meetings of chapter sub-groups to agree who writes what, and write it. (Ch.2. subgroup will meet next Thursday. nb next week is ‘different’ for Europe-US time difference.) • Another meeting of this group at the beginning of week 48, i.e. Monday Nov 25th or Tuesday Nov 26th. (doodle poll) ATLAS+CMS:JCSS 25 Oct 2013

  4. Technology Themes • The current outline mentions five possible “Technology Themes” and their possible scope: • Databases • Algorithmic code • Grid • Visualisation • Multi-threading • We should decide VERY SOON which ones we want to pursue, as we will need to volunteer some authors!
