CTTC REF Consultant Report ASHRAE Winter Conference – Chicago 2012 • Refrigeration Update • ASHRAE Guide for Sustainable Refrigerated Facilities and Refrigeration Systems • Research Advisory Committee conditionally approved Work Statement subject to obtaining co-funding • Estimated Cost will be approx. $500K • Project co-funding will be sought from the Multi-lateral Fund of UNEP • Similar to ASHRAE energy design and green guides • Guide will include: Facility Design and Loads; Refrigeration System Design and Components; Controls; Energy Modeling and Performance Analysis; Commissioning; Operations; Benchmarking • Guide will be used for Design of New Facilities, and Enhancing Existing Facilities • Document will be Applicable in Countries Outside U.S.
CTTC REF Consultant Report ASHRAE Winter Conference – Chicago 2012 • Refrigeration Update • ASHRAE Position Document on Refrigerants and their Responsible Use • REF is the cognizant committee for the Position Document • This PD Addresses Refrigerants using a Holistic Analysis, and includes: • Hydrocarbons • Inorganic Compounts (NH3, CO2) • Water • Halocarbons (CFCs, HCFCs, HFCs, HFOs) • Lower GWP Options • Note: This P.D. makes reference to the ASHRAE PD: Ammonia as a Refrigerant, 2010, which will be retained.
