Community: A society that encourages the plurality of the individuals toward common good and core values. When someone commits a crime it is against the community. Reconciliation: Imposed Penance or punishment is the way to reconcile the law with itself. A violation of the law occurs requiring punishment to reconcile it to a homeostasis of sorts. The Right To Be Punished:Treating the offender as an active moral agent rather than a subject to be punished. The offender is viewed with dignity and being deserving of correction to bring him/her into the right moral way of living. Similar to the Biblical idea of God chastening those he loves.
