AP vs. Dual Enrollment “The reason is this: the AP test is a demonstration of proficiency and competence in a subject matter. While a credit is a demonstration that you did what the teacher or professor required of you, the AP test is a nationally-normed test. A score of 5 on that test communicates that not only are you a good student who can handle college level work, but that you have demonstrated a high degree of mastery of the subject matter.” Mark Montgomery College Counselor Montgomery Educational Consulting

Do Students Learn More at Highly Selective Colleges? • At highly selective schools, students have high-achieving peers who will challenge each other and keep the level of learning high. • When students are capable of high-level work, the courses match the level of the students' abilities. Thus, highly selective colleges often have courses that are more demanding than at less selective schools. • The most selective schools tend to foster more interaction between students and their teachers.
