  2. Time period The medieval time spans a period of 700 years beginning around the year 600 slowly declining.

  3. Genres of plays performed were • Morality Plays • Religious Plays • Liturgical drama • Miracle Plays

Some plays performed • Regularis Concordia by Ethelwold, Bishop of Winchester -A practices didn’t contain much of English compilation of many Western European monastic customs that were unique. • Romance of the Rose by Guillaume de Lorris and Jean de Meun-An allegory of the art of courtly love

  5. Vikings • The and conquests of Vikings, the Scandinavian warriors which were also referred as Norsemen, Northmen, Danes or Normans. • Some causes of this sudden expansion of the Vikings were due to overpopulation, internal dissension and quest for trade and adventures were the main reasons of the expedition according to some scholars’ assumations.

  6. Pageant Wagons • Pageant Wagons where like small stages that moved through the streets while the audience stayed at one place almost like parade floats.

  7. Decline • Increased interest in classical learning – affected staging and playwriting • Social structure was changing – destroyed feudalism and "corporate" nature of communities • Dissension within the church led to prohibition of religious plays in Europe. By late 16th century, drama of medieval period lost its force.
