  2. COMMA SPLICE: When two sentences are joined together with a comma WRONG: I saw a dog, it was a poodle. RIGHT: I saw a dog. It was a poodle. FUSED SENTENCES: When two sentences are joined, and a period is needed WRONG: Pinky knew how to fly a kite he was good at it. RIGHT:Pinky knew how to fly a kite. He was good at it. FRAGMENT: When a sentence is missing a subject or a verb WRONG: To watch his house being built. (no subject) RIGHT: I watch his house being built. WRONG: The reason we all left early and went to the store.(missing verb) RIGHT: The reason we all left early and went to the store was clear.

  3. RUN ON: When multiple independent clauses are combined with a FANBOY (usually, “AND”) WRONG: We ate at the mall, and Betty bought ice cream, and we all had pizza. RIGHT: We ate at the mall. Betty bought ice cream, and we all had pizza. FAULTY PARALELLISM: When things are listed without uniformity WRONG: I enjoy biking, fishing and to swim. RIGHT:I enjoy biking, fishing, and swimming. RIGHT: I like to bike, fish and swim.
