Objectives • What is ACS? It is a cloud-based service that provides an easy way of authenticating and authorizing users to your web applications and services by allowing the features of authentication and authorization to be factored out of your code. • What are the prerequisites for getting up and running with ACS v2 (Beta)
Account Requirements Create an AppFabricproject and add one or more service namespaces within the project. Browse to the Windows Azure AppFabric portal at http://portal.appfabriclabs.com to create a project and create a service namespace. For this Labs release, there is no charge for creating a project, a service namespace, or using the service.
.NET Framework Compatibility Make sure the following programs are installed and functioning properly on your computer: • Visual Studio 2010 (any edition). For more information on Visual Studio, see http://www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/en-us/products. • .NET Framework 4.0 or .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 with the following KB's: • 976126(for .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008) • 976127 (for .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 • Windows Identity Foundation Runtime, which is a new extension to the Microsoft .NET Framework that makes it easy for developers to enable advanced identity capabilities in the .NET Framework applications.For more information, see http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=974405. • Windows Identity Foundation SDK.
