Firearms id. is born • One day classroom course on PowerPoint and hands-on practice with the Firearms Reference Table • What is a firearm? What are the firearms types? Actions? How are firearms classified?
Challenged by success • In 2008, trained 600 people in 28 cities • $3,500 direct costs per course • Demand from every corner of country • Incredible appetite from police
PSC & CPKN to the rescue • Firearms Identification for Public Agents 101 • Two hour bilingual introduction to firearms identification • Success of course • 7,200+ registered • 700 have completed course • 90% would recommend
The future • Second module to incorporate all of the classroom course information into on-line course • Developing a new one-day classroom course with firearms for police services upon invitation • Verifiers to receive all required training on-line • Need for “Prove your firearm safe” course
