  4. But first…. • ISEF survey • Oregon has an abnormally high rate of intoxicated driving and unsuccessful drunk driving laws. But first…. • We have meetings every Wednesday after school in room E105.Our competitions are every other weekend, and last all day on Saturdays (and you can skip school on some Fridays!).If you have any questions, you can contact Coach Brian Gutowski at gutowski5201@comcast.net, or find his kid, Elise Brown walking around school sometime.   7. But first…. • West Linn reads! • It’s February, and that means WEST LINN READS!  West Linn Public Library is giving away free paperback copies of Ursula K. Le Guin’s fantasy classic, “A Wizard of Earthsea” (while supplies last)--and we have a month of events leading up to Ursula K. Le Guin’s visit to our library (Wednesday, February 23rd.)   11. Building background information • To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is set in Alabama during the 1930’s. To better understand the book, we need to develop our schema -- our background knowledge. • With a small group of peers – about 3-4 people per group – you will discuss a particular topic Read Write Speak Listen

  12. Building background information • Discuss what you already know. • Research your topic. Record significant facts. • Think about the best way to present information to others. What images, sounds, etc. will help to make your points? • Develop a short presentation • At least 5 significant facts • sensory elements. • PowerPoint would work best. Read Write Speak Listen
