Key Highlights:  Russia has rich coal, petroleum and natural gas reserves.  Russia was the second largest crude oil producer in the world.  Russia was also the second largest fossil fuel coal exporter in the world.  Russia was the world’s leading gas exporter.  Russia’s top exports were crude petroleum, coal, metals & wood articles.  Russia’s top export markets were USA, Korea, Poland, Japan & India

  3. Russia’s Top 10 Product Exports Petroleum  In FY22, Russia's crude petroleum exports were around 242 MMT.  European countries, China, India, Turkey & South Korea were top importers.

  4. Coal  Russia exported around 210 MMT of coal in FY22.  Top importers of Russian coal were China, India and Japan.

  5. Metals  These include exports of Iron ore, Semi- finished iron, Raw aluminium, Raw nickel, Refined copper, Hot-rolled iron, Pig iron and Scrap iron.  In FY22, Russia’s metal exports were worth 72 billion dollars.  China, Netherlands and Germany were top markets for Russia’s metal exports.

  6. Precious Metals  Gold, platinum, and diamonds were among Russia's top exports.  Top export markets were China, Germany & Netherlands.

  7. Lumber  Top export categories were sawn wood, plywood, rough wood, particleboard, wood carpentry, fuel wood.  Around 15 billion exports of wood articles were reported by Russia.  Top markets were China, Netherlands and Germany.

  8. Machinery  Top Machinery exports from Russia were gas turbines, nuclear reactors, broadcasting machinery, computers and insulated wires.  Kazakhstan, France and Germany were top markets for Russia’s machinery imports.

  9. Plant Products  These include barley, corn, legumes, soybeans and sunflower seeds.  The major import markets were China, Netherlands and Germany.

  10. Food  The major food exports from Russia were chocolate, baked goods, processed crustaceans, hard liquor, flavoured water and confectioners' sugar.  Kazakhstan, China and Belarus were major markets for Russia’s food exports.

  11. Chemicals  Russia's chemical exports were around 31 billion dollars in FY22.  These include Fertilizers, ammonia, carbon, radioactive chemicals, acrylic hydrocarbons, acrylic alcohols.  Brazil, United States and Kazakhstan were the top Chemicals export markets for Russia.

  12. Animal Products  Top animal products exports from Russia were Fish, pork, poultry and dairy.
