  1. TuesdayMarch 17,2009 (3/17/2009) AGENDA Quote

  2. TuesdayMarch 17,2009 (3/17/2009) WARM UP Time Given: 3minutes Imagine that it is the year 802,000 A.D. (80,000 years from now). What kinds of people would you expect to see at that time? What about technology, or the environment? Explain as best you can what this time period would look like or act like.

  3. Some BehavioralUpdates NO NOTES Strike System will remain at 3 strikes until after spring break. Behavior Contract: If I see something I don’t like, I will put you on a behavior contract. This is a step before a referral—it is between YOU and ME. If you continue to do that bad behavior, I will write you a referral.

  4. Archaic Vocabulary NO NOTES You will see lots of words in The Time Machine that you will not know. Why are we reading a book with lots of difficult words? Remember, we are no longer bound by the FCAT—there are more difficult books out there than those FCAT passages!

  5. Chapter 1 NO NOTES [we are not reading] Introduction to the character known as the Time Traveler. He entertains guests and tells them he can travel forward or backwards in time. They get into a debate on whether or not a 4th dimension exists.

  6. Chapter 2 NO NOTES The Time Traveler’s guests wait for him at his home. The Time Traveler returns, claiming to have gone into the future and stayed there for 8 days and then returned.

  7. Chapter 3 NO NOTES The Time Traveler begins his story. He arrives in the future and notices that he is in a very beautiful garden. There is a white sphinx there. Creatures, 4 feet tall, approach him

  8. Chapter 4 TAKE NOTES The Time traveler ponders what these “people” are. He starts to learn some of their language. These people seem child-like and he suspects that humanity has evolved past hard labor/work.

  9. Let’s Read! NO NOTES Regular popcorn. Turn to pg.24 (1/6 period) Turn to pg. 18 (2/3/4 period)
