Radio Networks • National Broadcasting Company (NBC) – 1927 • Columbia Phonograph Company (CBS) – 1929 • American Broadcasting Company (ABC) – 1943
Government Regulation • Radio Act of 1912 - Broadcasters must operate in the “public convenience, interest, or necessity.” • 1934 – Congress established the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) – Allocated broadcast spectrum.
