Detect Signs of a Virus or Spyware • Computer performance lags • Drains CPU resources • Ties up tasks which makes your computer slower • Startup takes forever • If no modifications were made, it’s probably malware starting up causing the delay • Browser keeps crashing • Definite case of spyware • CPU Usage is 100% all the time • Access task manager and if it’s disabled then it’s a virus • Check what’s taking up space and if it’s a weird name then it’s a virus

  3. Steps to Take! • Step 1: Save all the data you can • Step 2: Download the anti-virus program you choose • Step 3: Unplug your internet connection • Step 4: Run your anti-virus program • Step 5: Set your anti-virus program

  4. Step 1: Save All Data • Save all the data you can before running your anti-virus program. • You don’t want to risk losing anything important if you are able to save it.

  5. Step 2: Download Your Anti-Virus Program • Free programs do the basic cleanup of a computer. • Purchased programs have full coverage of protection and other features than free programs. • Here’s a few programs to choose from: • Norton • Kaspersky • McAfee • Avast! • AVG Free • And more…

Step 3: Unplug Your Internet Connection • ALWAYS unplug your internet connection before running any virus removal program. • If you don’t, a remaining piece of a virus can reconnect you to the internet and re-download the virus you just removed. • You increase your chance of getting rid of the problem by doing this step.
