9th Grade Schedule - 7 Classes Math 1 credit = 1 class Language Arts 1 credit = 1 class Science 1 credit = 1 class Social Studies 1 credit = 1 class PE 1 credit = 1 class Elective 1 1 credit = 1 class (if you failed Reading or Math Sol- Possible Remediation Class) Elective 2 1 credit = 1 class • 7 Credits = 7 periods
CHOOSING HIGH SCHOOL CLASSES *Teacher recommendations are important. • Example – Regular English Pre AP English *Pre AP Classes more reading, writing, work to be completed at home; don’t take tooo many Pre AP classes. *Foreign Language – must have a ‘B’ in 8th grade Language Arts! *Choose 7 classes and two alternates(extras)!
DIDN’T GET RECOMMENDED CLASS YOU WANTED? • Don’t have the grades. – Pull your grades up! Then your parent can contact the high school and request a schedule change before 31 May 2017
PARENT OVERRIDE REQUEST • Parents may complete an override a teacher recommendation or a prerequisite if they feel you are capable of completing the class successfully. • Special Ed and ESOL students will have a case manager review your schedule hereand you will receive support in High School. • Remember all High Schools do not want schedule changes next fall. You have until end of this year to change a class. Your parents must request this change to your High School by the end of this school year!
H. S. SCHEDULING! • The high school your are zoned for (Base School – Where you live). • No schedules will be written for specialty programs. After you are accepted, you new school will come over and register you. • If you want a schedule change, parents must contact the high school • Today you will take home a sample H.S. scheduling form to discuss with parents. Bring this form when you meet with the high school Counselors. • All 5 High Schools will visit Saunders during Feb. or March. • If you are moving out of the area next year – Write Moving: At top right of schedule print ” • .
General Information • Must be eligible to play sports and participate in school activities – VHSL requirements. • 2 “F”s during a 9 week grading period. • Turn in the actual H.S. Schedule to your Science teacher signed by a parent the day after registration. • Don’t forget summer assignments online. • Signet students are pulled out of P.E. usually • Math Recommendations are either Algebra I or Algebra I PT 1 (this is not a math credit – you must complete Algebra I PT 2 for it to count as a Math Credit.

When is the deadline to apply for a H.S. Specialty Program? February 1st What do I do with the Sample H.S. schedule/letter I receive today? Review this with your parent and pick sample classes – Each H.S. uses a different form. This is not the real scheduling form!
