  4. Let’s get it started!! • 1. Range: A range in Excel is a collection of two or more cells. This chapter gives an overview of some very important range operations. • 2. Formulas and Functions: A formula is an expression which calculates the value of a cell. Functions are predefined formulas and are already available in Excel. • 3. Statistical Functions : Average | Averageif | Median | Mode | Standard Deviation | Min | Max | Large | Small

  6. Formulas and Functions • Subtract, Simply use the minus sign (-). Don't forget, always start a formula with an equal sign (=). • Multiply, Simply use the asterisk symbol (*) as the multiplication operator • Divide, Use the forward slash (/) as the division operator • Square Root, First, to square a number, multiply the number by itself. For example, 4 * 4 = 16 or 4^2 = 16 • Percentage, First, enter a decimal number and On the Home tab, in the Number group, click the percentage symbol to apply a Percentage format

  8. AverageTo calculate the average of a group of numbers, use the AVERAGE function

  9. AverageifTo average cells based on one criteria, use the AVERAGEIF function. For example, to calculate the average excluding zeros

  10. MedianTo find the median (or middle number), use the MEDIAN functionn

  11. ModeTo find the most frequently occurring number, use the MODE function

  12. Standard DeviationStandard deviation is a number that tells you how far numbers are from their mean

  13. MinTo find the minimum value, use the MIN function

  14. MaxTo find the maximum value, use the MAX function
