Fiscal Management: • Spend Down: Unit Operating Accounts • Have All Agents Get Travel Reimbursements up-to-date to ensure accurate accounting of unit funds • Follow Controller’s Office schedule for spend-down • Keep Close Tabs: Don’t allow this year’s travel reimbursements or other expenditures to roll over to next year’s budget allocation---don’t mortgage your future allocations
Fiscal Management: • Local Checking Accounts • Task Force currently looking at our checking account practices/history • Task Force exploring alternative management for disbursement of funds– possible elimination of paper check writing • New Direction will be piloted before system-wide implementation • Pilot Unit to be recommended from Northeast

Staffing News New Hires: Youth SCNEP PA in Newport News Unit and the Food Bank of the Virginia Peninsula, as well as Adult/Youth SCNEP PA in Hanover. Hire Date is April 25, 2008
Budget News EFNEP/SCNEP budget is very tight this year • We are asking Program Assistants to help in the following ways: • Carpool to meetings and grocery store • Charge only EFNEP or SCENP program related travel to budget • Limit trips for supplies, mentoring, etc.
Interdisciplinary Project • Opportunity for awards of $2500 for project teams composed of at least two of the following: FCS, ANR, 4-H and CV.
