Read the Problem • Have your child read the problem to you. • Use a highlighter to underline important information. • Underline the question. • Circle and label the numbers. Make sure your child knows what they mean.
Omit Unnecessary Information • Cross out information you don’t need
Telling On this side of the chart, write all of the clues the problem gives you. Asking: On this side of the chart, write the question part of the problem. Use this side to work out the math. Plan: Put information into a chart or scratch paper
Study the Results and Check • Check the math and make sure your computation is correct. • Make sure the answer makes sense
