  1. Montessori Schools are Transforming the Face of Indian Education, And Here’s How! Since ages, schools have been educational hubs and stepping-stones for children to develop their skills, acquire knowledge and prepare themselves to face the world. However, catering to the learning requirements of over forty students at a time is not a piece of cake. In the bargain, schools often overlook the importance of individual learning styles and preferences. This is where the Montessori method of education steps in and emphasizes on dealing with each child differently. How are Montessori schools in Noida and other cities shaping education in India and providing alternatives to the traditional school education strategies? Here’s a look: 1. Individualistic Approach: Every Child is Unique The Montessori approach looks upon every child as a unique entity with his/her individual preferences, pace and abilities. Hence, it shatters the grand narrative of a school and suggests that teachers modify their teaching methods based on every child’s unique ability. This approach has brought about a significant positive transformation in the education system by ensuring that every child is provided equal importance.

  2. 2.A Break From Traditional Classroom Teaching While schools often perceive classrooms as extremely indispensable aspects of disciplining children, Montessori schools deviate from such rigid bifurcations. Rather, they group students into three broad categories: i) The children’s Montessori programme for children aged two to five years; ii) The Lower Elementary Nursery programme for children from five to eight years of age; and iii) Upper Elementary Montessori programme for children aged eight to twelve. Upon completing their Upper Elementary Montessori, students are admitted to the regular schools. While Montessori schools in Noida and other parts of India shatter the conventional classroom method of teaching, they follow the CBSE curriculum to impart education. 3.The Teacher as a Facilitator Unlike the regular school hierarchy in which the entire teaching-learning process revolves around the teacher, Montessori schools consider teachers as facilitators who merely guide the students through their academic journey. In other words, they follow a learner-centric approach in which students explore their environments independently with the teacher as a support and mentor. This provides a sense of independence to the children, allowing them to formulate their own perceptions. 4.Freedom With Responsibilities: The Right to Choose At Montessori schools, a child is provided with the freedom to make significant decisions while also being monitored. Thus, students are free to choose between various activities and independently hone their skills in specific ones. At the same time, teachers closely supervise their activities to correct their mistakes and perpetuate the desired behaviour. Such a setup helps students with independent decision-making and problem solving. Conclusion Montessori schools are rapidly reforming the Indian education system by breaking rigid teaching conventions and facilitating a more independent and inclusive learning method. Schools such as the Global Indian International School, which follow the Montessori approach to education, are witnessing considerably positive outcomes from implementing this learning style. A healthy blend of the Montessori method with a well-planned curriculum such as CBSE can help with the all-round development of students.
