  3. Definitions of lesbian • Religion – lesbianism is seen as immoral • Criminality – lesbianism is seen as a crime or deviant behaviou • Medical – lesbianimsn is seen as pathological or sick • Lesbianism is seen as a life style or social role Wilton, 1995
