  1. SW – Week 4 Opening: Find instruction pages for test. Pages 2-6

SW • Test Directions • Sit in your own space • A separate table • A pillow with clipboard – see where I placed them – do not move them • Your table with dividers up between you and others around you. • All 50 letter answers go on scantron • 20 corrections written on test – must be done in a funny color – red, green, purple, blue, … • When finished, take your computer. • Finish paper and submit • Turn in Submission page and other materials to me today. • Work on Journal 4 – handout on front table.

  3. Revision and Submission • Prove you looked at and understood revision comments • Print out • Make changes • Explain what you changed • Prepare final • Make it something you would be proud to hand to a boss, recruiter, college as an example of your best work. • Read directions on submission sheet.

  4. Tuesday Opening: Please copy and correct this: “We’re going to learn to cut and paste kids!” (Commas matter) Find Articles Type up Journal 5 Intro to Unit 2 - Case

Articles • Assignment – due for tomorrow • Find 2 articles from 2 different sources on 1 subject • Subject is of your choosing – choose something of interest – you will be reading and writing about it • Vacation spot • A type of pet/animal you have • A career you are considering • Emmy’s • Artprize • Safety of astroturf • Cursive handwriting controversey • Need to have printed out and here tomorrow • Each needs to be a minimum of one page of text – but if really long – maybe print a part of article

  7. Pronoun Case He, She, They, I, We Him, Her, Them, Me, Us Who, Whom Our, My, Your, Her, His, Their Which one do you use when????? Complete back side. In Packet p. 21 – Lesson 1, Exercise 1 – Mark as correct or change.

Article Read: Active reading • Chunk your first article – find a way to divide into 3-4 parts • For each part • Mark 3-5 key ideas • On LEFT write a summary statement (use sticky note if you wish) • On RIGHT make a comment, write a question, make a connection, or write a thought about what is said. • Chunk your second article – find a way to divide into 3-4 parts • For each part • Mark 3-5 key ideas • If ideas are the same as first article – mark in yellow • If ideas are different from first article – mark in pink or orange • On LEFT write a summary statement for that part. • On RIGHT make a comment about how this part is similar or different from first article.
