Purpose The reason I am doing this project is to see what liquid would keep a flower the freshest out of coffee, water, and Coca-Cola. Hypothesis I think that water will save the flowers between coffee, coca-cola, and water because that’s what you put flowers in to grow.
The Materials • 9 flowers. • Coffee/ 1 pint • Coca-cola/ 1 pint • Water/ 1 pint • 9 cups
The Procedures • Get 9 carnation flowers, cut each at equal length, and place in each cup. • Pour Coca-cola up to the line in 1 cup. • Pour water up to the line in one cup. • Pour coffee up to the line in a cup. • Repeat steps 2-4 two more times. • Check flowers daily for any wilting or color of flowers for one week. • Record data.
Graphed Results What keeps the flower the freshest? Scale of freshness 1=wilting 3=no wilting Type of liquid flower was put in
Conclusion So our hypothesis was right. Water did keep the flowers the freshest. But coffee was second and coke was third. And water keep it fresh all threw trial 1, trial 2, and trial 3. the results were shocking to see what the coke did to the three flowers , and what was shocking was that the coffee didn’t really wilt the flowers but it did turn a little brown around the edges.
Acknowledgements I would like to thank Bianca McConkey for bringing in the flowers Amber Sarchet for buying the soda, And the office for giving us the coffee.
