Latitude & Longitude • Latitude and Longitude are lines used to find locations on a map or globe • They are called coordinates • They are measured in degrees • Latitude shows the distance north or south of the equator • Longitude shows the distance east or west of the prime meridian • When writing the coordinates ALWAYS write latitude first and then put a comma and write the longitude second. • Example: 80N, 180W
