PostalOne!®Electronic Documentation • Electronic submission of postage statements and supporting documentation is required to realize all of the benefits available when using the Intelligent Mail Barcode. • Mailers will apply Intelligent Mail Barcodes to mailpieces, handling units, and containers and tie all of this data back to their electronically submitted documentation.

  4. Electronic Documentation There are three methods that allow customers to electronically submit mailing information: • Postage Statement Wizard • Mail.dat® • Web Services

  6. Postage Statement Wizard • Postage Statement Wizard (PSW) is a convenient feature which leads the customer step-by-step in completing a statement and sending it to the post office. When the customer submits mailing information electronically to the Postal Service, the customer will have online access to their mailing account 24/7 to check their account balance, ensure their fees are current, and view their mailing history. • The Typical User of thePSW falls into one or more of the following categories: • Typically presents hard copy postage statements • Typically does not use software to generate mailing information • Typically spends less than $7000 annually on business mailings

Mail.dat® is a relational database of multiple “connected” files permitting descriptions of each variable that can occur within a mailing. • The Mail.dat® file is created from the customers presort plan for mail preparation including transportation planning. The customer’s Mail.dat® file contains mailpiece destination, sortation, • and container information. • Typical user of Mail.dat®falls into one or more • of the following categories: • Performs transportation planning & drop-shipping • Mails large volumes and complex presorts • Use software programs to prepare and produce mailings Destination Container Bundle Mailpiece

  8. Web Services Electronic Submission • Web Services (WS) provides customers with a business-to-business capability of submitting documents to the Postal Service using a secure internet connection. Web Service also allows business mailers to retrieve data stored in USPS data repositories. The customer is able to submit electronically transmit postage statements and supporting documentation. • This option enables the customer to convert mailing information into an XML¹ format that can be transmitted directly to the PostalOne! system. • Typical user of WS falls into one or more of the following categories: • Uses presort software programs • Mails medium to large volumes • Mails frequently (daily/weekly) • ¹ - eXtensible Markup Language
