  5. Initial Syllabus Items: • For Thurs, read Chapter 1 • Exam 1 will cover Chapters 1-3 • I’ll post and send out syllabus in the next few days on D2L.

  6. Teaching Approach • Lots of examples • Ask questions • Discussions, even though a large class

  7. Syllabus Items • Grading • Exam Formats • Makeup Exam • Time limit on grading issues • End of exam in class • Missing class • Email

  8. During Exam…. • I don’t answer questions about exam questions • Could give unfair advantage • Often cannot answer without “giving away” the answer • Often can answer some, but not all, question

  9. Instead…. • You can write down your concerns with a question on the scantron • But always put your selection for the best answer • If there is a problem, this becomes apparent

  10. Exam Grading Process • Review all comments on exam questions • Adjust, if necessary • Submit to machine grading • Analyze results • Adjust, if necessary, and resubmit • Determine any “curve” and post
