PURPOSE • Our goal at Mendham High School is to develop the student’s capacity to use the language in communicative situations. Emphasis will be from the text, workbook, videos and supplementary materials such as newspaper and magazine articles. Students will improve their skills in reading, writing and speaking in the target language.
MATERIALS • YOU SHOULD COME TO CLASS PREPARED WITH… • BINDER AND NOTEBOOK. • TEXTBOOK. • PEN WITH BLUE OR BLACK INK. • HANDOUTS AND HOMEWORK. • TEXTBOOK
Participation • Participation will be assessed four times per quarter and will be based on a point system of forty points total per quarter.
HOMEWORK • ASSIGNMENTS ARE GIVEN EACH DAY AND ARE WRITTEN ON THE SMART BOARD IN THE FRONT OF THE CLASSROOM. • HOMEWORK MAY INCLUDE ASSIGNMENTS FROM THE TEXTBOOK, WORKBOOK OR ADDITIONAL SUPPLEMENTARY HANDOUTS. • ALL WORK IS TO BE COMPLETED BY THE DUE DATE. THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS WITH AN EXCUSED ABSENCE. • You are responsible for making up missed work within one week upon returning to school. A blank grade on PowerSchool means that a make up assignment was not handed in. • A grade of 0 on PowerSchool means that an assignment was not completed or handed in on the day it was due.
QUIZZES IN SPANISH ARE GIVEN WEEKLY AND MAY INCLUDE… LISTENING SPEAKING READING WRITING QUIZZES ARE BASED ON A POINT SYSTEM. Quizzes may be announced or unannounced. Tests will be announced at least one week in advance. QUIZZES/TESTS

OBTAIN A HOMEWORK PAD. WRITE DOWN THE ASSIGNMENT FROM THE BOARD. CLEAN AND SORT BINDER REGULARLY. REVIEW NOTES EACH EVENING AND PREPARE QUESTIONS FOR THE NEXT DAY. ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE LEAVING CLASS. COPY OVER NOTES IF SLOPPY AND USE A COMPUTER IF NECESSARY. STAY AFTER SCHOOL FOR FURTHER CLARIFICATION. CHECK OFF FINISHED ASSIGNMENTS IN HOMEWORK PAD.
