  5. What is an LMMA? “ An area of nearshore waters and coastal resources that is largely or wholly managed at a local level by the coastal communities, land-owning groups, partner organizations, and/or collaborative government representatives who reside or are based in the immediate area. “

LMMA Network A network of 7 country networks across Indo-Pacific region (Philippines, Indonesia, PNG, Pohnpei, Palau, Solomon Islands and Fiji) who share a common vision and have formally agreed to work together under a set of core values and principles ( social contract) to learn how to improve our management efforts. We are interested in learning under what conditions using an LMMA strategy works, doesn’t work, and why.
