  2. TEKS Objectives This story is written for Elementary Students in kindergarten though third grade. Chapter 110.2 (b) Language Art Knowledge and Skills (1) Listening/speaking/purposes. The student listens attentively and engages actively in a variety of oral language experiences. The student is expected to: (A)  determine the purpose for listening such as to get information, to solve problems, and to enjoy and appreciate (K-3) (D)  listen critically to interpret and evaluate (K-3) (F)  identify the musical elements of literary language such as its rhymes or repeated sounds (K-1). Chapter 115.3 (b) Health Education (3) Health behaviors. The student demonstrates basic critical-thinking, decision-making, goal setting, and problem-solving skills for making health-promoting decisions. The student is expected to: (B)  describe how decisions can be reached and problems can be solved (C)  explain the importance of goal setting and task completion

  3. There once was a girl named Sue.

  4. She loved trucks and sports… and didn’t know what to do. ? ?

  5. Can I play? At recess she would ask to play basketball with the boys.

  6. But they would reply “go play with girl toys”.

  7. Sue would practice and practice to improve her game.

  8. One day she would be great and put all the boys to shame.

  9. After a few weeks she could dribble and shoot.

  10. She became so good the boys would watch her and “hoot”! WOW!

  11. Sue became a team captain as it would seem…

  12. Sue would pick only girls for her basketball team!
