Historywas created by the former U.S. Poet Laureate, Robert Hass, who wanted students to learn more about their own environment. After explorations of their watershed, K-12 students create their poetry and art for the International River of Words competition. Winners are announced in April and all students receive a certificate for entering (you can brag about this certificate in your resume). National Grand Prize Winners (8 students annually) receive a trip to Washington DC where they are recognized at the Library of Congress. National winners and finalists have been selected from Georgia every year since 1997! • River of Words (ROW)
