Welcome Everyone! • My name is Ms. Foreman • This is my second year at JLFES • This is my fourth year teaching elementary music • I love to sing, dance and play the drums.
Everyone can sing! • You may not be the next Beyoncé or Michael Jackson but you can sing! • Everyone develops their singing voice at different times. • Sometimes you can loose it as you get older and then find it again. • Singing is all about listening!
Classroom Procedures • K-2 • Stop at the corner outside the room • Come in singing a song chosen by the teacher • Sit criss cross on the carpet when the teacher tells you to. • 3-5 • Stop at the corner outside the room • Come in silently • Sit criss cross on the carpet in rows of 6 • Assigned students will pass out materials for the day as needed
S.O.A.R. Expectations • I LOVE to give out eagle eggs. • You can earn eagle eggs in a variety of ways.
S- Shine with style • Use the appropriate tone and language • What kind of language should you use in music class? • Sing and Play Melodiously • What does this mean?
O-Own Up to Your Choices • Listen and follow the Instructions of the teacher • What does this look like in the music room?
A-Always Respect Yourself and Others • Take care of all Instruments and Materials • What kinds of materials are used? • Participate in all class sessions • What if you don’t want to?
R-Remember to Choose Right over Wrong • Be respectful of classmates when they are performing • How will you show respect to your classmates?
Skit Time! • The students will split up into four different groups representing one of the letters in S.O.A.R. • Groups and letters will be assigned by the teacher • Students will have 7 minuets to come up with their skit and 2-3 minuets to present each skit. • The skits must show the correct way to behave in music class.
