NSF OIG Audit Update Plans Have Changed: • Expected to receive sample the week of May 12 – will now be the week of June 16. • First sample will be about 250; second sample of 200 expected later this year. • Experience of other Universities is that auditors are concentrating on foreign travel, food, IT purchases, and purchases towards the end of grant periods.
NSF OIG Audit Update What to Expect: • Auditors will be on site for two weeks sometime over the summer. • We expect to be given at least 3 weeks to pull the supporting documents. • Departments will be expected to upload the documents to a central server. • IA and RAA will issue guidance on what support documentation to provide when we send the sample to campus. • The auditors will review the documents online. They do not expect to visit departments or interview PIs.
NSF OIG Audit Update If you Manage NSF Awards: • You should have received an email in early May regarding a listserv that was set up to communicate with campus about the audit. • Anyone with NSF funding who has not received an e-mail, please contact Peter Harris, Senior Auditor at ph3@uw.edu Contacts: • Zenaida Shattuck, Associate Director, Internal Audit zshatt@uw.edu 206.543.4028 • Peter Harris, Senior Auditor, Internal Audit ph3@uw.edu 206.543.0856 • Tami Sadusky, Executive Director, Research Finance & Operations tamis@uw.edu 206.543.0764
