John Locke • Social Contract: people have natural rights, life, liberty, and property and gov is meant to protect these

What U.S. Has • Indirect Democracy / Representative Democracy / Republic – ppl elect representatives to make many decisions for them
Homework • Compare & Contrast (C&C) monarchy and authoritarian regimes • C&C democracy and an oligarchy.
