Question: How does Birth Order affect Personality Development? • 3 + 1 Birth Order Theory (cont.) • Middle Born: • Undefined status—not having a defined place in the family—may be an advantage (creative & flexible) • Rebellion—more prone to rebel against the status quo—can be a positive—force for change/independence • Outgoing—often reach outside the family for significant relationships—may be especially influenced by peers • Shift Blame/Responsibility—difficulty accepting these Chapter 10
