7. Thesis Statements • An unproven statement that tells the reader what you intend to talk about • Can be argued as being true or untrue • Present 3 pieces of evidence

8. Examples Bad Thesis: Parvana is travelling in search of her mother. Good Thesis: Parvana’s search for her mother is important because of the positive influence she makes in the lives of Hassan, Asif and Leila.

10. How to Write a Thesis • Start with a topic • Choose a specific issue about that topic • Write a statement that can be proven true or false • Use 3 points that will help you prove your statement • Combine the statement and the points
