Initial developments • Phase 3 Pathfinder • Appointment of Psychology Assistant (Nov 08) • Senior remit for development of PSPS • Building on existing good practice • No Further Education (FE) provision in East Renfrewshire at present
National aims of PSPS: • To support the young person’s transition to post-school by enhancing continuity and progression • To complement the assessment and advice provided by college, training providers or Careers Scotland staff, taking into account a young persons wider life issues • To improve the understanding, skills and effectiveness of service providers through consultation, training and action research • To contribute to strategic developments locally and nationally including policy developments (MacKay, 2006)
Supporting the young person’s transition to post-school • Early intervention – identification of the ‘most at risk’ via the tracking database used in all secondary schools / STINT Plan, JST & school staff. • Involved in Transition Planning groups and Post School strategy groups • Attendance at transition reviews • Supporting school staff in running transition groups the primary schools • Developing a Transition Passport
RENEW (Raising Empathy and Nurturing Emotional Well-being • Systemic framework aimed at drawing on existing initiatives and building on new developments • Commitment to address the mental health and wellbeing of children and adults in East Renfrewshire • Therapeutic Intervention Team – individual referrals from psychologists. • Supporting PSPS work on basis of early intervention
To complement the assessment and advice provided by college, training providers or Careers Scotland staff, taking into account a young persons wider life issues • Consulting with Colleges (4 Glasgow Colleges) • Service level agreements, identified contacts & a regular visiting pattern with colleges • Careers Scotland Training • Linking with others • Adult & Family Learning Service • MCMC Strategy Group • Strong links with Social & Vocational Coordinator

Future PSPS Developments: • Continuation of support for young people at risk of being NEET through early intervention. • Form links with training providers • Formalised links with key colleges • Identify the risk factors which contribute to East Renfrewshire's young people not sustaining positive destinations post school • Identify the protective factors which contribute to East Renfrewshire’s young people sustaining positive destinations post school • Need to formalise links with partner agencies / providers • Generic EP’s role in relation to PSPS developments
