  1. Evaluation of Masterclasses Find a Future is an organisation that brings together WorldSkills UK Skills Competitions, The Skills Show and The Skills Show Experience, providing every young person with the chance to unlock their potential and get excited about the world of work. Through hands-on experiential activities and skills competitions we help shape their futures and transform their lives. City & Guilds, Edge Foundation and Premier Colleges are premier sponsors, and the Skills Funding Agency and European Social are funding partners, of The Skills Show and The Skills Show Experience.

  2. Why evaluate? • Test what happened against intentions, expressed in aims and objectives • Identify strengths and aspects that could have been better • Provide the basis for improvement and development Self-reflection focused towards improvement

  3. Principles • Evaluation is about ‘how well’ and ‘how good’ rather than audit of what happened • Focus on the most important aspects, especially impact (short term, and through follow-up, longer term) • Open and honest • Coding through ‘grading’ helps, supported by key evidence • Plan evaluation from the outset, not as a ‘bolt-on’

  4. Who should be involved? • Teachers/trainers • Learners • Organisers / co-ordinators • Judges / observers • Managers

  5. What to do with evaluation information • Bring different perspectives together • Form overall views about impact • Identify main lessons learned • Share with others • Use information to formulate next steps or improvement for future
