Plant features and functions By: Sebastian Nunez
Basic parts and functions of plant cells Chloroplasts- gives the plant the ability to make glucose (sugar) Nucleus- the “command center” for the plant cell Cell wall- protects the cell Cell membrane-controls what comes in and out of the cell Cytoplasm-holds up all parts of the cell Vacuole-(If able to)gives the ability to give away waste
Parts and functions of plants • Roots-collects the water and nutrients for the plant and holds plant into ground. • Stem-transports water and nutrients up the plant • Leaves-store water and nutrients for plant and makes glucose for plant(thanks chloroplasts!!!)
Parts and functions of a flower • Sepals-protects the pedals • Pedals-attracts insects to flower • Stamen-makes the pollen • Pistil-stores the egg cells
Similarities and differences between flowers and plants Every plant such as trees, bushes, and other plants always include what every plant does. Roots, stem, and leaves. However, a flower is something that includes sepals, pedals, sepals, and pistils that all have different functions. So when you see a flower, you might think of all plant and flower parts combined. Wrong! It’s actually separate just to let you know. And those are similarities and differences between flowers and plants.
