Spread of Religion Vocabulary • Missionaries [mish-uh-ner-ees]– people dedicated to spreading a religion • Diaspora [dahy-as-per-uh]– the scattering of people, happened when the Romans expelled (threw out) the Jews from Palestine in 135 A.D. • Convert [kon-vurt]– a person who switches from one religion to another. Ex: Mauryan ruler Asoka converted to Buddhism • SAT Word of the Day – • foible [foi-buhl]– a minor character flaw • Ex: Alex’s foible in school is that his notebook is unorganized.
