Indonesia • Minutes of Discussion Between Ministry of National Education of Indonesia and MOE, Lao PDR • Short and long terms Scholarship: - Under DARMASISWA 1-year program, Gov’t of Indonesia provide 20 scholar for students to study in Indonesia in the areas of culture and Indonesian language • Under South to South program: 10-20 scholar for students to study at a Master Degree level (3 year, including 1 year for language program

Indonesia (Cont..) • Teacher Training: for the academic year 2007-2008 : Gov’t of Indonesia provide 5-10 scholar for teachers of Vocational and technical Schools and College in subject: ICT, Tourism, Arts and hospitability • Training : 1 scholar, training for Senior Official/lecturer at NUOL • Provide scholar for 1 teacher to study Indonesia Language • MOE, Lao PDR prepare and accept 40-50 students from Indonesia to attend 1 month culture program in Lao PDR

Malaysia • Malaysia provide the scholarship to Lao students , teachers and staff as researchers in Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral Degree every year • Prepare MOU and Minister of MOE Malaysia will invite Minister of MOE Lao PDR to sign the MOU in Malaysia soon • Cooperation in Education, Science and Cultural • Malaysia will support Lao PDR by provide the English teachers, ICT teachers to Lao Ministry of Education

  12. Myanmar • Cooperation in Education • MOU, between Ministry of Education Lao PDR and Myanmar • Provide the scholarship for Lao PDR, mostly, for the Monetary

  13. Philippines • MOU in the program of Exchange Cooperation in Education, between Ministry of Education Lao PDR and Philippines • Training and Seminar supported by SEAMEO INNOTECH • Provide scholarship for Bachelor, Master, Doctoral Degree supported by SEAMEO SEARCA

Singapore • Government of Singapore support Lao PDR in many Sectors, especially capacity building in English language and ICT • Government of Singapore - provide 1-2 scholarship for students at National University to study Bachelor degree, the selection is interviewed and depends on the standard of the ASEAN criteria - provide 3 scholarship for student at Upper Secondary Education Grade 5 to continue their study at Grade 6

  15. Singapore (Cont..) • Donation scholarship by Dr. Goh Keng - 3 scholarship/ 2 years SEAMEO RELC: • Training: provide scholarship for upgrade the English teachers and the staff who work for ASEAN - provide 11 scholarship for Upgrade English teachers to train in English course

Singapore (Cont..) • Upgrade the teachers at National University by provide “Distance Education Programe” supported by CIDA, Canada • Training English program for 100 scholar for the staff who work for ASEAN, supported by Canada- Singapore • Seminar: SEAMEO RELC provide 1 scholar/year for the English teacher

Singapore (Cont..) • Cooperation in Education in Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI) • Same as other new ASEAN member countries, Lao PDR got the supported from Singapore to upgrade the capacity building for the Lao Staff in all sectors such as: Administration and management, upgrade the capacity in using computer and English language

Singapore (Cont..) • In 2006, 16 staff in Education sector train in Lao-Singapore Center, in Vientiane and 22 staff train in Singapore • Cooperation in Private Education - Establish private school in Lao PDR - Establish Lao -Singapore Genetic Computer Center - Lao - Singapore Center ( for training English language) • Others: Seminar

Vietnam • Bilateral MOU in Cooperation in Education between Ministry of Education, Vietnam and MOE, Lao PDR - 1 year Cooperation plan - 5 year Cooperation plan • Scholarship: - Short term and long term - 650 scholarship/ year for the students, teachers and staff to study Bachelor, Master and Doctoral Degree

  20. Vietnam (Cont..) • Provide Vietnamese teachers to teach at lower, upper secondary schools, National University in Lao PDR • Establish School in Lao PDR ( for talented students) • Lao PDR provides 30 scholarship for Vietnamese staff and students for long term study in Lao PDR

  21. Vietnam (Con’t) • SEAMEO RETRAC - Seminar: conduct the Seminar for the Education Administrators in Lao PDR ( Lao PDR responsible for the cost of the trainee/participants and Ministry of Education in Vietnam or SEAMEO RETRAC responsible for the lecturers / trainers

Thailand • Bilateral MOU in Cooperation in Education between Ministry of Education, Thailand and MOE, Lao PDR • Gov’t of Thailand provide - Study Tour 5-10 scholar/year for Higher Education Staff - Study Tour for all sectors 90 scholar/year and for academic 12 scholar/year • Gov’t of Thailand provide the cooperation in curriculum development in pre-school, primary school, Lower and Upper secondary school

Thailand (Cont) • Exchange students, teachers and researcher every year under the program of exchange the human resources and students in neighboring countries • Exchange students program for the students at Secondary level between Thailand -Lao PDR • Technical vocational College” NavamintharashiniMoukdahan and Savannakhet Technical College ” to develop the curriculum in 6 branches

Thailand (Cont) • Exchange program for students • Promote the Non- Formal Education, exchange the knowledge, skills for the community education, exchange the eradication technical staff in order to upgrade the education for the villagers • Exchange the teaching information in Science and Mathematics • Support the learning - teaching curriculum development ( all community, disable, talented students, Non-formal education)

ASEAN-Australia • Australia Universities and Vientiane College - 40 Scholarship/ year for students, teachers and staff to study bachelor and Master Degree to study in Australia -15 scholar/year for 6 months training English language Course in country - Training for Interpreter and translator for the staff at MOFA, 2005-2010 in Vientiane College, Lao PDR - 64 scholarship for provincial students to study at National University of Laos, in Vientiane

ASEAN- China • Bilateral MOU in Cooperation in Education between Ministry of Education, Republic of China and MOE, Lao PDR • Gov’t of Republic of China provide short and long term scholarship - 44 scholarship for Bachelor, Master and Doctoral Degree • 30 scholar supported by Soochow University , Co-finance between University and Students parents - Soochow University will establish the University Branch in Lao PDR

ASEAN- China (Cont) • In 2006-2007, Republic of China provide 230 scholar/year (Bachelor and Master Degree) • 5 year plan Cooperation in education, Lao PDR also provide Republic of China 20 Scholar 2008 to study in Lao PDR • Training in all sectors: 5 scholar for cooperation (MOE) • Seminar: - Exchange for secondary school principal - China- ASEAN Summer Workshop: 4 scholar/ year for upper secondary school

  29. ASEAN- India • Training : - ICT, English language, Education Administration, management • English language Center - Training for the teachers and staff • Lao-India Center - Train for the technical / vocational training Others..

ASEAN- Japan • MOU in human resources development between MOE, Lao PDR and Japan • Scholarship for long term: • 20 scholarship/year for Lao students to study Master Degree (JDS scholarship) • 1-5 scholarship/year for Lao students to study Master / Doctoral Degree (Monboshu Scholarship) • Other sectors.. • Short term Training: - 15 scholarship for staff at MOE • Support the school building for primary school

  31. ASEAN-Japan (Cont…) • Students Exchange program - 100 scholar/year for upper secondary school students - 4 scholar/ year for upper secondary school to study in Japan 1 year - 3 scholar / year as Home stay in Japan for 1 months for upper secondary school • Others..

  32. ASEAN- Korea • Bilateral MOU between MOE , Lao PDR and Republic of Korea • Short term training computer: - 20 to 25 scholar/years - Other training…. • Long term: - 5 scholarship/ year
